The Calitzdorp Art Festival gathers artists, visitors, and the local community into a shared creative landscape — something that spills across the valley, open and unfolding.

Under this year’s theme, Karoo Alchemy, the focus turns to transformation: how something ordinary, through attention and care, becomes something more.

Across the town: exhibitions, open studios, workshops, and the presence of children discovering art in their own way. There is a sense of openness here.

Good food and wine too! Long tables, local flavours, and the easy movement between making, sharing, and gathering.

During the Calitzdorp Art Festival, I’ll be based here in a special artist residency at The Retreat at Groenfontein, where I will be holding a process-led space and activities.
