Commissions form a special part of Melanie Meyer’s studio practice, ranging from intimate paintings to large-scale canvases and diptychs.
Her commission process is intuitive and collaborative. A conversation might begin with an existing painting you respond to, a particular scale or space, a colour palette, landscape, memory or feeling. From there, Melanie brings these starting points into the same process-led approach that shapes her wider body of work.
The aim is not to reproduce an existing painting, but to create a new and individual work that carries something of what first drew you to Melanie’s art.
